Owner Comments on Cav. Paolo Soprani Accordion
I’m so glad I came across your posting on an accordion blog. I recently acquired a Paolo Soprani accordion. The buttons or keys look like Mother of Pearl. Judging by the wear, the leather strap looks original. I’ve been told the instrument plays. There is also plate which reads Felice Porcella and Son, Musical Instruments, 469 Hanover Street, Boston, Mass. It’s really a lovely piece. I’ve attached some photos for your review. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and it’s estimated value.
Can you identify this Paolo Soprani?

This is a very interesting, old relic with big letters, Royal Standard stamped on it. The owner indicates that it also has the wording, Grinclaviatur engraved on it.
See Owner notes below.
Royal Standard Accordion Owner Writes:
Hi- I recently picked this up (it is so beautiful!) and can’t figure out what type of accordion it is. I wanted to learn to play it, but, it doesn’t fit into any of the button schematics that I can find. Can anyone identify what it is? (It has 120 bass buttons. The photo doesn’t show that very well.
T I was cleaning it today and when I took off the cover on the buttons, it says Grinclaviatur (510? The numbers are written funny….If this would help.

Here is an interesting old Gem Accordion, made in 1948.

Gem Accordion Information
Information by owner is as follows:
I have an accordion that was handed down to me from my mother however I cannot find any details on the make or model. My mother told me that it is a rare model and was made in a limited production run. Here are all of the details listed below. Any information on the accordion and/or its value would be much appreciated. Thank you. It was purchased for my mother when she was a child and she used it occasionally. It works perfect.
It has an emblem on the front “GEM” but I cannot find any information on this accordion nor any GEM accordions that were made.
My mother wrote details down but it is not much information – “Rare 1948 Gem accordion. Made in Italy.”
There is a hand engraving or stamp on the bottom that says “Made in Italy – 317″
No other labels or identification marks on it that I can find.
Thank you for your help.

Those are the words inscribed on the nameplate of this interesting old Accordion.
The owner writes:
I have inherited an old accordion of which I never knew existed until I found it in the closet of my deceased mothers home. I have researched some and cannot seem to find anything on this brand. It has 120 buttons and the pearl ivories that have dropped are still in the case. Can you give me any information on how to find out about it? It has this on a coat of arms on the front..In Cantu Laetitia in sonitu longevitas.
