I get dozens of emails each month from accordion owners asking me to help them identify their instruments. I want to make it completely clear that I am not an expert on accordions. In fact, I know very little about accordions. I am a trumpet player who happens to be very appreciative of musical instruments and their history. I will also confess that for some reason I am fascinated by the Accordions; the music and the way they sound. Like many of you, I inherited an accordion; in my case from my grandfather. I was very curious about it: How old is it? Is it valuable? Is it a popular accordion and of good quality? In my search for information on this old, Gubas & Sohn Accordion from my grandfather, it dawned on me how little information is available about old accordions online. My goal with the Accordion Stop Blog is to expose the world of Accordion owners to as many pictures and as much information as possible in hopes to find someone who might be able to help us identify our accordions. So, please don’t ask me to identify or provide a value or identification of your instrument. I know as much about your accordion as you do. The best way to get information on your accordion is to participate on this blog and share. Now, let me give you some useful instructions for submitting your Accordion and maximizing all of our chances for success.

Submitting your Accordion for Identification

Three Simple rules:

Submitting your accordion to this blog is as simple as sending me an email with as much information you have on your instrument. The more info you have, the better the chances are of getting some answers from other accordion owners or players who might know. Here are a few simple rules that will help us both:

Provide as Much Information as Possible

Where did you get the accordion? How? Are there any markings, serial numbers, names or model numbers on the instrument? Providing as much details as possible will definitely help get your accordion inside of the Google search engines where someone might stumble upon our site and be able to lend some advice and clues to how old it is and what it is worth.

Please Try to Limit Your Photographs to Two

Numerous pictures will not do any good. Normally, two photographs is enough. Try to limit your photos to just two and choose the ones that you feel might be the most helpful in identifying your instrument. If you have some distinct features that you feel requires more photos, then by all means feel free to do so. Just realize that in most cases, I will only publish the two photos that I feel are necessary.

Help Promote the Accordion Stop Blog

To this point, only one thing has stopped the Accordion Stop Blog from helping 100s of people get help identifying their accordions: We don’t get enough visitors! A successful blog requires lots of incoming traffic. There are some ways you can help!. Leave comments underneath the blog posts whenever you can. It could be something as informative as, “my Grandmother had an Accordion that looked like that back in 1955″ to something as simple as, “I love the beautiful design of your Accordion” The more comments the better for our visibility in the website search engines. The other thing you can do that would be extremely helpful to your cause is this: Always click on the Google-Plus-1 and Facebook Like and other social bookmarking buttons which are on the left-hand side of the screen. Google evaluates and ranks websites positioning in their search engine by how popular they are. Making this site successful will bring in lots of visitors. Lots of visitors will result in knowledgeable members providing useful information about your accordion. There is one last thing you should try:

Visit the Accordion Stop Auction Site

I have created a website of all the Accordions being sold on eBay. Chances are good that you might find one similar to yours. Accordions are sorted by brand and type. Make sure to check back often as the inventory frequently changes: Accordion Auction Sales Obviously, check this blog frequently to see if someone has offered any clues or information on your own accordion. Thanks for participating and good luck getting your accordion identified.

Only a picture. The only information I got from its owner is the following:
Hello my name is Noelle. My dad recently passed away and left me a lot of instruments one being this accordion. I can not locate a name on it and really don’t know much about it. I know it has 120 bass keys and it is a full size accordion, also it is a 22 inch key board. Could you tell me more about it, possibly you can help me. I sent as many pics as I could.

I did receive a few more pictures, but they all look exactly the same, so I am only publishing the one. If someone happens to know anything about this instrument, please email me at info@accordionstop.com or leave comments below.
